Gel blasters keep evolving, and two heavy hitters are about to shake things up: the Guns Modify URG-I (Geissele MK16 build) and the A&K M60 Vietnam-era machine gun. Both are based on iconic airsoft platforms, and now they’re landing in the gel blaster world with realism, performance, and collector appeal. Let’s take a deep dive.

Guns Modify Geissele MK16 URG-I (MWS GBBR Platform)

The URG-I (Upper Receiver Group Improved) has made waves in the real-steel and airsoft communities, praised for its modular design and military heritage. Guns Modify has taken that pedigree and delivered a gel blaster replica that mirrors Tokyo Marui’s world-famous MWS gas blowback system.

🔑 Key Features:

  • Full-metal receiver with Colt trades and durable coating

  • M-LOK Geissele MK16 handguard for accessories

  • SOPMOD-style adjustable stock

  • Steel trigger group, bolt stop, and sear (Level 2 spec)

  • Snappy gas blowback action with realistic recoil

  • Compatible with MWS upgrade parts and mags

What the  Community Says:

  • Build Quality – Widely praised for its realism, tight machining, and finish.

  • Performance – Strong, crisp blowback, with excellent gas efficiency.

  • Upgradability – A modder’s dream. URG-I builds dominate airsoft tech forums thanks to their Tokyo Marui compatibility.

In gel blaster form, expect the same mix of realistic handling and serious upgrade potential. Perfect for skirmishers who want more immersion or collectors who crave realism.

A&K M60 “Vietnam” AEG Gel Blaster

If the URG-I is about sleek performance, the A&K M60 is about sheer battlefield dominance. A full-metal replica of the legendary Vietnam-era machine gun, this is the kind of blaster that turns heads the moment you walk on field.

🔑 Core Specs:

  • Full-metal body with folding bipod

  • Massive 3,000–3,500 round auto-winding box magazine

  • Authentic dimensions (~1080 mm length, ~6.7 kg weight)

  • Adjustable hop-up and robust gearbox

  • Full-auto firepower for pure suppression

🗣 What the Airsoft Community Says:

  • Intimidating Presence – “Nothing clears a path like walking into a game with an M60.”

  • Reliability – Solid gearbox, consistent feeding, and a rugged external build.

  • Cons – It’s heavy. You’ll feel the weight after a long game, but that’s part of its authenticity.

👉 As a gel blaster, the M60 is ideal for players who want to run suppression, dominate objective play, or just stand out. It’s a collector’s piece as much as it is a field weapon.

⚔️ Side-by-Side Comparison

Model Platform Highlights Best For
Guns Modify URG-I Gas Blowback M-LOK, SOPMOD stock, Level 2 internals, realistic recoil Realism fans, upgraders, collectors
A&K M60 AEG / LMG Full-metal, 3,000rd box mag, bipod, suppression fire Heavy gunners, team support, showcase builds

Final Thoughts

These two blasters couldn’t be more different, yet both bring authenticity and presence to gel blasting:

  • The Guns Modify URG-I is for players chasing realism, recoil, and the joy of customizing.

  • The A&K M60 is for those who want to go big, own the battlefield, and run one of the most iconic support weapons ever made.

Both are more than just toys—they’re collectors’ items, tributes to military history, and absolute conversation starters.

M60 the pig is just great . I carried it for a short time in 86 when I was at singleton then moved to the MAG 58 at 2/4 . If the M60 was affordable and shot less than 330 FPS so you could actually use it at most fields then I’d be up for it if it’s as heavy and as unreliable as ours were at that time well half the fight was making them work as parts fell off them .
